Cilantro Jalapeno Dip Recipe
Cilantro Jalapeno Dip Recipe
I am about to share with you the best Cilantro Jalapeno Dip Recipe on the face of the Earth! I’m not even kidding! The key to this recipe is fresh ingredients, not canned. You probably think this dip recipe is spicy but it’s really not. Well, it depends how you make it. My kids are not a fan of spicy at all. I find the if you scoop out all of the seeds of the jalapenos it’s not spicy at all. Of course if you like spicy then leave the seeds in.
I’ve got a bit of a secret though… there was a time when I didn’t want to share this recipe with anyone! Yeah, it’s that good! In fact, we’ve been told to bring it to almost every barbeque party we’ve been invited too.
Be sure to check out our Grilled Garlic Cilantro Lime Chicken recipe here. It’s just as good and pairs nicely with this recipe. We also highly recommend our Cilantro Lime Rice. It’s a healthy side dish that’s made with brown rice.
Update: I just had someone ask me if you can substitute the ranch dressing mix. I would say absolutely not. This is what gives this recipe all the flavor. She didn’t have it in her area but you can purchase it on Amazon. It’s listed as a best seller too! Of course it is! That stuff is ah-mazing!

I have been making this over a year…people at work ask for this when we have potlucks! Very addictive!
I have been making this dip for so long and sometimes I even double the recipe! That’s how much we love it! The only thing I add to ours, is the juice of 1 large lime. It really wakes up those flavors! It goes perfect with a Mexican style dinner or for a BBQ… and I am Italian!!!
Awesome Vicki! I love that!
We love this dip as well. My son and daughter-in-law add cream cheese to theirs. Fantastic!
I was wondering if you have to use cilantro? Does it change the taste if you don’t use it?
Yes. This is one of the main ingredients.
Have you ever tried any other peppers? Like bell pepper? My family likes spicy but not too spicy. I was wondering if it would taste good with half the jalapeño and half green bell pepper. I don’t want to ruin the original recipe so I thought I’d ask first 🙂
I take all of the seeds out of the peppers so it’s not spicy at all. I don’t care for the taste of bell pepper so I have not tried that but I would encourage you to experiment with it. I love the taste of poblano peppers and if I ventured out of this recipe I would probably try those because they are loaded with flavor. They are also not so spicy when all the seeds are removed. Let me know if you try it. I would love to hear how it turned out.
Have you ever used any other peppers? Like bell pepper? My family likes spicy but not too spicy I was wondering if it would taste bad with half green bell pepper and half jalapeño. Just thought I’d ask before I make it. i don’t want to ruin the dip 🙂
This dip is SO good! Thanks for sharing!
Can you use Miracle Whip or is real mayo better?
You can use whichever you prefer. I prefer the taste of real mayo myself. I’ve tried it both ways and both taste amazing!
Do you use Miracle Whip or real mayo?
Can I use a blender or does it have to be a juicer?
I used a food processor. I’m certain a blender would work just fine.
Star rating wasn’t working but i give this recipe a 5/5 stars! I just made this delicious dip! Thank you for sharing. This dip has such a great spicy kick and it truly is addicting after first bite. I am serving the dip with garlic pita chips and they are a great pair. I am definitely making this again!
Hi There,
This sounds yummy, but I am all the way in South Africa and I would like to know what is in the packet of dry ranch dressing mix, we do not get that all the way over here;) Trying to find out what I can substitute it with. Thank you!
Oh goodness. There is no substitute for that. This is what makes the recipe amazing. Can you order it on Amazon? Here’s the link: http://amzn.to/1khew1Z
You can google the recipe for homemade ranch seasoning and it will work.
I was wondering how much does this make?
It makes about 4 cups (approx)
I made this a few times before n absolutely love it !! I made it this week for a work potluck and multiple people have been asking for the recipe. LOVE IT!!#
Awesome!!! I would love for you to refer them to my website!!
I just made this today, and I have to say it is the best dip I have ever had! I also substituted the mayo for Greek yogurt an it turned out excellent. Thanks for sharing this recipe with us!! Will be making again and again 🙂
Oh I’m so glad you liked it! I will try it with greek yogurt next time too! Enjoy!
Hi… I will be making this recipe tonight. I was wondering how many days after making this is stored in a container will it usually last? I’m probably the only one that will eat this in my home so I don’t want to make a lot and it goes to waste 🙁
Oh that’s a tough question for me because this always goes really fast. I don’t think I would trust it after a week but I’m pretty picky about stuff like that. Anyone else have a suggestion?
I stored mine in a container for a little over a week. It gets a little runny over time, but it’s still good! You can also mix a little more sour cream to thicken it up. Hope this helps! 🙂
Just made this with 0% fat plain Greek yogurt and it is still so amazing! I am not a fan of mayo as someone else said so this was a great alternative 🙂
OH thanks so much Carmen!!! I will try that next time!!! I’m always excited to try something new!
Made for my hubby today for Father’s Day. It was a hit. For sure making again.
What is the best chip to use for the dip? It looks so good I can’t wait to try it!
We use a lot of Corn chips and Pita chips but we don’t stop there. We add it to our burgers, fish, steaks and even our ham sandwiches! It’s absolutely delicious!
i was wondering if u think this would be any good without the mayo? we dont like mayo in my house.
You might want to try and substitute it with greek yogurt maybe. I’ve not tried it but if you do please let me know. There are lots of dips that use yogurt.
OMG I just made this and it turned GREAT!!! (I did not pit the jalapeños) turned out nice n hot yum!!!
Idali,
I’m so glad you liked it. It’s been our favorite recipe for a very long time.

Do you use two single packs of dry ranch mix? The one pictured looks like a double package. Also, just one cup each of sour cream and mayo or the whole container of sour cream? THanks!
I used the double pack of Dry Ranch mix which is equal to two of the single packs. I used one cup of Mayo and 1 Cup of Sourcream. Let me know how it turns out!
One more question: Did you use the entire large ranch package as pictured? I buy the dry ranch by the bottle. I small package is 3 tbsp of ranch. Trying to get an accurate measurement or close to it, thanks!!
Yes! I used the entire package. I wished they sold a big bottle of dry Ranch here.
Whew! I was a bit worried about that bushel! A bunch I can do, but 8 gals (approx a bushel) is a bit much! 😉 sounds delish and can’t wait to try!
lol! OMG! Yeah, not 8 gals! WHOA!! Tell me what you think! Would love to hear your opinion!
Looks delish!!!! Glad someone cleared up bushel ! I was like holy cow! Lol. Can’t wait to try this.
Did you really mean a bushel of cilantro or should it be one bunch?
I’ve always called it a bushel but yes, a full bunch of cilantro that fits in your hand.
