Easy Bacon Cheeseburger Soup Recipe Ingredients
- 5 slices Bacon
- 12 oz. Ground Beef (80/20)
- 2 tbsp. Butter
- 3 cups Beef Broth or Beef Bone Broth
- 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
- 2 tsp. Yellow Mustard
- 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp. Ground Red Pepper
- 1 tsp. Cumin
- 1 tsp. Chili Powder
- 2 1/2 tbsp. Tomato Paste
- 3 medium Dill Pickle, diced
- 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 3 oz. Cream Cheese
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
Easy Bacon Cheeseburger Soup Recipe Instructions:
Start by cooking your bacon. Once the bacon is done, remove it from the frying pan and start to cook the hamburger meat in the bacon grease left in the pan. (You can skip this step and add real bacon bits if you want a faster process)
In a separate pan, add the butter and all the spices. You will want to allow these spices to cook together for about 45 seconds. It will smell amazing!
Now, add the broth, tomato paste, cheese, mustard and cream cheese to the spices mixture. I let this cook on the stove top for about 5 minutes or so. Just enough for the cream cheese to be melted completely in the sauce.
Lastly, you will add your pickles and heavy cream to the sauce. It will be a nice and brown creamy texture.
Pour the sauce over the hamburger meat with bacon you cooked early and allow it to simmer for about 5 or 10 minutes.
Serve warm!

Note: This recipe was adapted from the Ruled Me Cheeseburger soup recipe. We used different variations in seasonings so it wouldn’t be spicy. My kids loved it!

My family loves this!! I also made it for our Souper-Bowl potluck at church a couple of years ago. I tripled the recipe and brought none home. Last year I took another soup, and had several people ask me to please bring back the Bacon Cheesburger next year!
Very tasty. Way too salty if recipe is followed. Recommend less than 1 tsp. Salt can be added to the taste if guest desire. The addition of sautéd mushrooms and onions was a winner.
Okay so I didn’t make it quite as is (and I don’t eat Keto), but I thought the outcome was delicious and worth sharing my changes:
I added a whole onion and fresh garlic while the beef was cooking and added cooked macaroni to it at the end. I used a pound of ground beef (instead of the 12 ounces it called for) and more cheese but kept the broth amount the same. We both loved the pickle and think it wouldn’t have hurt to add more.
Three cups of broth was an odd amount and I really think you could use a can of beef stock and a can of diced tomatoes too, instead of the entire three cups of beef stock. They tomatoes would have been good.
Oh and I just used bacon grease instead of butter and no bacon slices.
Love this! Added some onions but otherwise left as is.
I love these cheeseburger soup keto recipes! Thanks for sharing!
Me and my boyfriend have just stared the keto journey. We are 2 weeks in. I annoy him with my love of soups..I make them all the time. When I told him we were having bacon cheeseburger soup tonight he rolled his eyes. When he tasted it he kept going on and on about how good it was. Kept saying “this is no way healthy and fits into our diet..it’s too good!”..he was shocked when I showed him it was Keto. Literally one of the best soups I’ve ever made ❤❤❤
I would love recipes
Absolutely love this soup. I cooked up the bacon and then sauteed some onions and mushrooms in the bacon grease. Added all of this to the soup base with the hamburger. I wondered why there was no salt in the recipe, but decided to trust the recipe. It does not need any added salt. Thank you for this!
This soup was amazing! So flavorful and filling! I left out the pickles and had to substitute half and half for the heavy cream, as we have no heavy cream to be found in my area. Would definitely consider throwing some onion in to replace the pickle, but it was still incredible without! Worked great! Can’t wait to have it for leftovers!!
Really yummy recipe, printed out after our first bowl, this WILL be made again and again.
I used petite diced/drained tomato 1 can instead tomato paste.. think one could also exchange velveeta if chedder is a problem.
I just made this soup and it was 👌 great,
it was so gratifying. And very easy to make.
Delicious! I love it as written, but my kids prefer it with about half of the cayenne pepper called for in the recipe.
This is pinned to my favorites folder on my keto board! Definetly a keeper!! I really miss cheeseburgers and this really hits the spot thank you thank you thank you!!
Just a side note my family isn’t on a keto woe so for them I use ground turkey I use half the cheddar cheese but use extra sharp and add a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes. I know this ups the carb count so if I haven’t hit my macros for the day I go ahead and eat them if I have and don’t want to go over it want some wiggle room for a keto dessert I dip my bowl then add them in for my family. This soup is a crowd pleaser! 😊
A Little labor intensive, but it is well worth it. In a word, “Delicious”!
This soup is delicious! I wasn’t sure how I’d like the dill pickle in the soup, al though I love dill pickles. But it was such a pleasant addition. I also added pickled jalapenos because I love jalapenos on a burger. I will repeat this soup often. Thank you Jennifer for your excellent research and recipes and talks with Dr. Boz!
My husband are on the Keto diet. Just finished this soup. It is sooo good. The pickles give it the perfect taste. I will be making this again. It goes into my “go to” list.
Just finished eating this recipe and it was great! Even my picky husband loved it 🙂
Is the pickle essential for any reason? My daughter might eat this if I left it out. It’s a lot of work, having to make her a separate meal.
The pickle helps make it taste like a cheeseburger. You can leave it out. We love it and usually add extra.
This is delicious! I was pleasantly surprised.
Made this dish and adjusted my ingredients for more o a chili affect. It tastes oh! so good!!!!! This will definitely be a go-to dish.
Do you drain the grease after the beef is cooked or leave it in?
Soooooo Good! The pickles make this soup!
This soup is the bomb (late 90s ref). I loved every minute of it. I actually added onion, celery, and green pepper. I forgot the butter but I’m not sure you need it with the added fat from bacon and ground beef.
Is this suppose to have 3 or 1 dill pickle? This post lists both ways. Also, when I put this recipe in MyFitnessPal it shows to have 8.9 net carbs.
The recipe has one but I always add two more because the family loves more pickles.
I’m making this tonight and wondering if I can freeze portions. What do you think?
The flavours in this are Deeeeee-licious!!! And this is my first official keto meal!!! It’s getting chili outside and I was looking for a good soup, I highly recommend this one!! Thanks for the recipe, I’ll be making this one again!!
OM Goodness! This is A-MA-ZING! This will be a staple meal in my home this winter! Probably any season, for that matter! I don’t think I will ever tire of this awesome soup! Thank you so much for sharing!
Oh. My. Gosh. This was DELICIOUS! My only complaint is that it makes so little (5 cups). As delicious as this is, less than a cup just isn’t going to do it. ha!
Recalculating in MFP for 5 servings brings it to 6 net carbs/cup. Glad I had some extra carbs this evening, because I certainly used them. This is going to the top of the “to make again ASAP” list! Thank you!
Made this tonight! The only change was using reduced sugar ketchup instead of tomato paste just because tomato paste was the only ingredient I didn’t have on hand. I will definitely be making this one again! Super yummy and filling! I may add onions and/or mushrooms next time!
When served individually, you must add shredded lettuce, sounds weird but it makes a HUGE difference, like Game changer difference.
This is what’s for dinner tonight while I’m home packing! I threw everything in the crock pot except the cream cheese, the cheddar cheese and the dill pickles. Those will be added in towards the end. Oh yeah, I also had some Italian sausage in the freezer, so I added it along with the ground beef. It was real hearty and delish!
I just made this with chopped cauli and cooked onion. Oh wow. This was a fabulous soup. Hubby loved it to. It’s really hearty. I would omit the salt and possibly use low sodium broths.
It was delicious! I would highly recommend!!!!
This recipe is delicious! I would maybe reduce the salt a little, since all the other spices add so much nice flavor. I don’t, however, think this is 6 servings. I would say 4 at best.
I made this a couple of months ago and loved it. It seems like 2 tsp would be on the high side if the yellow mustard is supposed to be powder, so I used prepared mustard, but thought I’d check to be sure… Thanks!
*I meant to say *12oz* like the recipe states*
This soup is SUPER yummy. I love a keto recipe that doesn’t involve chopping veggies or dealing with cauliflower. This is a welcomed change in my kitchen. Thanks for sharing!!! TIP: At first, I cooked it with 10oz of ground beef like the recipes states, which means I had a hunk of leftover meat from the 1 lb. package. After the soup was complete, I felt like it needed that full pound of ground beef so next time I will use it all. I actually wouldn’t have minded MORE meat than that! Just a thought for those with big families to feed.
Wow I never thought to change the recipe based on taste of how much I need. Thanks for your super useful story. Sounds like you really love it meaty!
Delicious! But I will omit the Kosher salt next time. Between the cheeses and bacon, it doesn’t need the salt.
This soup is delicious! I made a double batch and would like to know the serving size. One cup?
Thank you,
Tammi
I just made a half recipe of this and really wish I had doubled the recipe instead. It is delicious, and perfect for my Keto diet. Thank you for this! I will be making it again soon.
Great recipe! My family loved it!
