Four Easy Steps for Good Oral Health
Four Easy Steps for Good Oral Health
We all know that good oral health takes time and effort but I’m going to break down the four easy steps for good oral health that we all need to do. There might just be one of these steps that you didn’t even think could help you. As a Mom of two, the smiles of my children and oral health are very important to me. I’m always reminding them of how important it should be to them too. Doesn’t it seem to be a struggle sometimes? I was very excited to help spread the word of importance when Trident asked me to help spread the importance of keeping children across America’s smiles looking great! Even though I am being compensated for this post, all opinions and love for this subject is 100% my own.
A smile to me is super important and you should never feel the need to hide it. I can vividly remember back when I was in middle school when my front tire flew off my bike while I was riding it. I landed face first in the road in front of me. I messed up my two front teeth. There was a crack and eventually they turned a dark color yellow. It was so embarrassing. I understood the importance of being able to smile without feeling shame. It wasn’t until later in life that I actually fixed my two front teeth. It was on ordeal I will never forget. Today I have the most beautiful teeth ever. I am in love with my smile and I couldn’t always say that. I would never want my kids to have that feeling of hiding their own smiles. This is probably why I am so passionate about oral health care for my whole family.
There are four simple steps to good oral health care:
Step 1: Brush Your Teeth Twice a Day
This should go without saying but it doesn’t. My kids always brush their teeth in the morning but it tends to be a struggle in the evening for them to remember. I’m always on them to brush twice a day, every day.
Step 2: Floss Your Teeth Daily
I’m going to have to admit that I used to struggle with this one myself. After a few trips to the dentist I quickly learned this is a must. Now I find that having the right tools for the job helps each person take it seriously. You can use the regular dental floss that you pull out and break off what you need or you can use these little dental picks that have floss on one end and a pick on the other. We carry both in our house because of the different preferences. Honestly, it doesn’t bother me what they use as long as they are using it. It’s funny how the youngest ones will eventually want to do it themselves if you teach it regularly too.
Step 3: Visit Your Dentist Twice a Year
It’s pretty important to keep up with cleanings and x-rays to help prevent problems from happening. By visiting your dentist every six months you can make a big difference. Besides, don’t you just love that feeling of super clean teeth. I wished I could get that same feeling at home. I actually like going to the dentist!
Step 4: Chew Trident Gum
I bet you didn’t think I was say chew Trident gum did you? I’ve just discovered that chewing Trident gum for about 20 minutes after eating or drinking helps to protect your teeth and keep them clean. Plus, 4 out of 5 Dentists surveyed would recommend Trident to their patients. It’s a fact that Trident is the first national sugar-free gum in the US and is the leading sugar-free gum brand. So whether you are in the mood for a refreshing mint flavor like Spearmint (my fav!) or a delicious fruity flavor like Tropical Twist, Trident has you covered and helps fight cavities! I love that! The kids love it too!
I know that with these four easy steps to good oral health that my family will continue to smile and be proud of that smile. Brush daily, floss daily, visit the dentist regularly and chew Trident! It’s that easy. Accidents such as falling of your bike won’t be preventable but good oral health care is and I will do everything in my power to have my kids smile with confidence.
