How To Organize Your Coupons- Organizing 101
There are many ways to organize your coupons but you will have to determine what works best for YOU!
Here are a few ways and only you can determine what works best:
- Binder method – putting all coupons together in a binder with clear plastic baseball card type inserts
- Envelopes/Shoebox method – each envelope has a category then put in a container of you choice.
- Expanding file – each tab as a category (some even use multiple for different stores)
- Box – there are small boxes to large boxes – all have tabs for categories
Next is to Label your categories. You can go as detailed as you want or as general as you want.
General Categories:
- Frozen
- Refrigerated
- Boxed
- Canned
- Bagged
- Paper Products
- Cleaners
- Bathroom: toothpaste, haircare, deodorant, hair color, mouthwash, pads (this is the largest category I have the most coupons in so I would sub categorize this one)
- Makeup
- Restaurants
- Recreation (toys etc)
- Pets
- Misc -batteries etc…
Detailed Categories:
- Air Fresheners & Candles
- Baby
- Bags
- Baking
- Batteries
- Beverages
- Bread
- Candy & Gum
- Canned Foods
- Cereal — General Mills
- Cereal — Kashi
- Cereal — Kelloggs
- Cleaners
- Condiments
- Crackers
- Dairy
- Frozen
- Health Food
- Hygiene — Dental
- Hygiene — Other
- Jelly / Peanut Butter
- Makeup
- Meat
- Medicine / Rx
- Mexican
- Office Supplies
- Paper Products {T.P., etc.}
- Pasta
- Rice
- Salad Dressing
- Seasonings
- Sauce
- Snacks
- Toys
- Vitamins
Here’s what NOT to do:
Don’t alphabetize them! You will never remember where you put it.
For example, if you have a Charmin Bathroom Tissue coupon you will never remember if you put it under C for Charmin, B for Bathroom, P for paper, T for Toilet etc….
You may also want to make other tabs for Stores that you normally shop at for their specific coupons:
- Bed Bath & Beyond
- Craft Stores
- CVS
- Photo Deals
- Safeway/Randalls
- Target
- Walgreens
- Wal-Mart
Now when I am shopping I put all the coupons to the front of my coupon basket standing up so that I know which ones I plan to use.
I hope this article helps you stay organized!
Happy Shopping iSavers!
