It’s National Peace Officer’s Memorial Day & Police Week! Plus my story!
Today is National Peace Officer Memorial day! Normally I write about saving you tons of money or getting you lots of freebies, but today I am writing on a different kind of savings! Saving lives!
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
Every day, peace officers put on their bullet proof vests and head out to protect citizens, enforce laws and keep our neighborhoods safe! They do this knowing full well the dangers they face. This is the week we can pay tribute to all the Peace Officers who serve us daily! This is also a time to remember the heroes who have fallen.
You may or may not know, that I am the wife of a Peace officer. I pray daily for the safety of my husband and all his co-workers who I consider my police family. I have been to many funerals and my heart breaks for the families left behind from the officer that have paid the ultimate sacrifice, all to keep us safe! I can’t help but to shed tears as I write this very thought.
Let us all reflect and honor all the men and women who make our world a safer place to live! My heroes with invisible capes!
My husband, my hero!
Here’s a video of a Peace Officers funeral I recently attended. (Warning: get your tissues ready)
Thanks to Peace Officers around the world for your bravery!
