Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake Recipe
Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake Recipe
I’ve had a love for the Chocolate lava cake as long as I can remember, but now, I can enjoy a Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake recipe that only takes seconds to make!! I made this mug cake recipe for my daughter and she immediately asked me to teach her how to make it herself! I just love when kids get involved in the kitchen. The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Fat Bombs used to be her favorite treat but now that she can get a gooey chocolate cake hot in seconds has her won over!
Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake Recipe Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons erythritol (I use this Erythritol found on Amazon)
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake Recipe Microwave Instructions
- Add egg to butter and whisk until air bubbles begin to appear.
- Next, add in erythritol, cocoa powder, heavy cream, salt and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Using a microwave-safe mug, spray non-stick baking spray.
- Pour in batter.
- Place in microwave for 30-45 seconds. Every microwave is different. You want the outside of the cake slightly firm, while the middle is not yet set, that’s how you get the lava.
- If you need more time in the microwave, set for 5-10 second intervals until you have the consistency of a Chocolate Lava Cake.
- Plate and serve with Homemade Whipped Cream.
Keto Chocolate Lava Mug Cake Recipe Oven Instructions
This recipe can be made in the oven too. Simple pour the batter into an oven-safe ramekin and bake it at 350 degrees for about 13 to 15 minutes. (You will know it’s done because the top will be soft like a sponge.
You can double or even triple this recipe and make a few more to share too!

This was EXCELLENT!! I used lakanto monk fruit sweetener blend and I couldn’t taste the difference between this keto recipe and my old recipe that used real sugar. I’ve tried several different keto lava cake recipes and this is by far the BEST! Thank you for sharing!!
I found this recipe 7 days ago after a bad craving for chocolate lava cake.
Since finding the recipe I have made it every night !!!!!
Best recipe ever !!!!
Thankyou so much. It’s awsome !!!
Absolutely the best one out there! I only cooked mine for 35 seconds and it was gooey in the middle perfect lava flow with firmer edges! I sprinkled 8 blueberries on top and was in heaven eating this. Thanks
I made this today. I didn’t have cream so used the same quantity of full fat Greek yogurt. I baked it in the oven for 10 minutes. DEVINE!!!!!
This is the best low carb dessert I’ve made so far in my search for low carb foods. thanks!
You can also glob some peanut butter in the mug after you put in half the batter. Then cover with the rest of the batter. Like a Reese’s cup lava cake!
Where does the fiber come from, the cocoa?
I’m new to Kito, what can I substitute for the Erythitol. I have not been able to find it in the grocery stores where I live in Delaware, I need to order online, but I would love to make this today. Could stevia or monk fruit be used, if so how much? Thank you. I receive your meal plans and I’m really learning a lot from you. Again thank you and God Bless
Stevia can sub.
I also added a spoonful of Ricotta cheese to the center. I think you can be creative and add pumpin, cottage cheese, or cream cheese for a nice creamy flavor filled center. What ever you have. It was so delicious.
Your Keto lava mug cake is a complete game changer for me! Finally, a chocolate dessert that tasted “real” and satisfied my very hard to please chocolate craving! Thank you!
Thank you for this recipe! It is my favorite Keto dessert and probably the only reason I can stick to this lifestyle change! So delicious.
Jennifer, this looks amazing and I will be making it soon! Love your site. So thankful I found you.
