Keto Hawaiian Sweet Rolls Bread Recipe

I had this crazy idea to attempt to make a Keto Hawaiian Sweet Rolls Bread Recipe.  I was confident I could make the bread rolls sweet but I wasn’t sure how I was going to get the Cuban flavor without the pineapple juice that is in the normal recipe for these rolls.  I mean, that’s a pretty important ingredient.  This is one recipe no one has yet to Ketofy.  I had an idea!  I’m never sure if these ideas will be a total success or a total fail.  I am so happy to report this idea was successful!  I basically took the regular Keto Fat Head Dough recipe and tweaked it a bit.

After I concocted a recipe that makes delicious Keto Hawaiian Sweet Rolls Bread, I decided to take it a step further and make some amazing Keto Cuban Sliders with these sweet rolls.  Oh, My, Word!  I don’t know if it’s just been so long that I have had a really good sandwich, but the sliders were a total hit with everyone (even the non-ketoers)!  Stay tuned and I will post that recipe soon too.  I grew up calling them Funeral Sandwiches but that recipe is filled with sugar and things I stay away from now.  It’s a great recipe but I just know I can make it sugar-free!  Here’s the Keto Cuban Slider Sandwiches recipe we made with these.  They turned out AMAZING!

Wanna know the secret to the sweetness and flavor in these Keto Sweet Hawaiian Sweet Rolls?  I used fresh ginger, Lorann Pineapple oil, and Swerve!  I ended up buying this 10 Pack of Fruit Flavored Lorann oils and it’s been money well spent!  I’ve used these in so many recipes for drinks, fat bombs etc…  It’s the best way to get the flavor you want without the sugar.

Here’s a video that shows the whole process:

  1.  Gather all of the ingredients first and measure them out.  This is important because once you melt the mozzarella cheese you will need to combine the ingredients quickly before it cools down.
  2. Place the Almond flour, baking powder and Swerve into a medium size bowl and mix the ingredients until they are combined.
  3. Place the Mozzarella cheese and cream cheese in a microwave-safe container and cook it on high for about a minute and a half or until the cheese is melted.  You can use a double broiler for this part if you prefer.
  4. Pour the melted cheeses mixture into the medium bowl filled with the dry ingredients.
  5. Add the eggs, fresh ginger, and Lorann Pineapple oil.
  6. Mix the ingredients until it’s fully combined.  The dough will be sticky.
  7. Place the dough on a silicone mat or parchment paper to continue kneading the dough together until if forms.  It will get less sticky the more you knead it but it will always be a bit sticky.
  8. Cut the dough into 10 even parts.
  9. Roll each part into a ball.
  10. Place the dough ball into a well greased baking pan.
  11. Bake it at 425 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Use a knife to separate the lines before you pull each roll out of the pan.  The bottom of the rolls should have a nice brown crust.

How do these Keto sweet rolls taste?

These rolls won’t have that bread gluten taste but they are the closest thing you will find to those King’s Hawaiian Sweet rolls you know and love.  They are not as light as regular bread either but they are not eggy tasting like some Keto bread recipes I’ve tried too.  It’s nothing like the light and fluffy Keto Cloud bread recipe.  They very much have a bread texture to them and are loaded with flavor!

How do you plan to use these sweet rolls?

This will be one of those rare recipes I will make as a treat on my Keto journey.  It’s nice to mix up fun seasonings and textures.  I try mostly to eat real food first and foremost.  I might make these for special occasions, family gatherings or holidays but I won’t make them often.

Hi, I made the Hawaiian sweet rolls. They went flat as soon as I took them out of the oven. I went right by the recipe and cooked them for 18 min for the browning. What could I have wrong??

  5. These look wonderful. Will they turn out okay as a “regular” keto roll without the ginger and the pineapple drops? I don’t have those items on hand. Thanks!

I can see using this recipe to make cinnamon rolls. Omit the ginger and pineapple drops, add 2 tsp of cinnamon. Make a cream cheese topping and you have cinnamon buns.
