How to Lose Hip Fat
One of the hardest places to lose fat is the hip and thigh area. This mainly applies to women, and you can thank Mother Nature for that! Estrogen plays a great factor in weight gain in the chest and hip area. Where people get confused is high levels of estrogen cause weight gain, yes this is true, but in the wrong context. Some women have very high levels of estrogen and others have lower, but what’s important is its relationship with progesterone. If there is an imbalance in these hormones you will see weight gains in these areas that make it very hard to get rid of. There are many organic supplements and foods that can help balance these hormones. For increases in progesterone, look for foods containing zinc and vitamin B-6. This will be any food that once had eyes: chicken, fish, and meat. Of course these cases are pertaining to women, but believe it or not the same problem occurs in men as well. If you’re a man and you look at yourself in the mirror and can wear your wife’s bra comfortably, well the following tips to lower estrogen levels will be more than beneficial to you. Start by ridding the body of any toxins with a detox. Second, cut back on grains such as soy and hops, yes that’s the hops found in beer. Have you ever wondered why you are having a fun time with your buddies then after a few beers he’s crying tell you his feelings? This is because beer causes great increases in estrogen levels, which apply to women as well. Third, and a strange one but refrain from eating or drinking out of plastic containers they have what’s known as xenoestrogens which cause all sorts of trouble. Finally, raise that testosterone. There are a number of natural ways to do this especially in food and organic supplements; it just takes a bit of research.
Now that we got the basics out of the way, its time to head to the gym and lose that hip fat! Many mistakes I see in the gym from people trying to target certain areas on their body is the types of exercises they are doing. So why is running on the treadmill, or climbing the stairmaster, and squats till you drop not working? These exercises are great, but you are only moving in one direction. Forward! The hips are complex with multiple muscles running through it, so to only give it one range of motion is what causes certain areas of the hips to stop working. We must retrain the brain to use all the muscles of the hips when running or squatting and the answer is not back and forth but side to side. Lateral movements will stimulate muscles you didn’t know you had, firm your glutes and open your hips to help shed that fat. When you train now think lateral. Here are a few exercises that you should incorporate in your routine: lateral lunges, lateral leg lifts, squats with a band (wrap a band around your thighs that’s adds resistance and when squatting push out as if you are trying to break the band). Get out there and lose that fat!
