Men and Women Interpret Travel Goals Differently
It really shouldn’t be a surprise to me that men and women interpret travel goals differently. We think about everything else differently so why should travel change that. Well, I was surprised. This is based on a new survey done by Chase Ultimate Rewards. The survey reveals that while eight out of 10 couples plan to take a vacation together this summer, interesting ‘he said, she said’ contradictions suggest that men and women lack an understanding of what their significant other looks for in a vacation. Does this hold true for you? I didn’t think it held true for me until I tested it out for myself.
When you have been married as long as I have, you automatically think you know that person inside and out. After 20 years, I’m still wrong. In fact, I was way off. I just asked my husband where he wanted to go on our next vacation if money was no issue. When I asked this question, I was thinking of a white sand beach with my little tootsies curled below the earth, with a cool refreshing beverage in my hand as I soak up the sun. But his reaction was one I didn’t expect. He wanted to go on a hunting expedition in Alaska! Wow. Alaska? I think he’s been watching too much of the Alaskan Bush People on TV. Talk about two completely different vacation spots. We couldn’t get any further apart than that. I mean really, Alaska? Don’t get me wrong. Alaska is beautiful but I want sun and sand on my feet!
Thank goodness we both agree on one thing though. We agree that we can save money with Chase Ultimate Rewards. With these rewards we save money on travel by using travel-related points or rewards. I do lots of travel for blogging conferences so those points add up quickly. Based on the infographic pointing out all the differences, I do agree that he wants to save money on airfare while I think of the hotel costs. That’s pretty right on for us. Actually, we make a great team when saving money on vacation. We tend to stay on budget. We don’t overspend either. We just don’t agree on the destination. Lol!
The survey also mentions that 47% of women say they plan the vacation but I would have thought that number was more like 85%. I know more women that take the lead on plans for sure.
Did you know: Chase Ultimate Rewards allows cardholders to redeem points for travel, gift cards, cash, experiences and more. To help summer travelers plan their dream trips, Chase Ultimate Rewards provides curated travel content and in-depth guides for destinations around the world with recommendations for hotels, restaurants and activities.
Chase Ultimate Rewards is considered amongst the most valuable loyalty programs out there in my opinion. The program has a special Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal, they partner with a diverse group of transfer partners, and they even have cash back options! Pretty cool eh?
So let me ask, where do you want to go on vacation and do you usually agree on the destination?
