Moscow Mule Mugs and a Few Drink Variations!
Moscow Mule Mugs and a Few Drink Variations
I am obsessed with all the different Moscow Mule Mugs I’ve seen lately! What is the infatuation with this cute little copper mugs anyway? I’m not much of a drinker but I do love a different twist on a vodka drink so I was willing to see what all the buzz was about. After doing a bit of research, I found the Moscow Mule Drink is made up of vodka, ginger beer and lime. I headed off to the store to grab those ingredients exactly!!! I feel a Moscow Mule party coming on!!
There are many variations of ginger beer but my friend told me I have to try the Cock ‘n Bull brand for this drink. Whoa! It was so darn good! The only problem? It has 35 grams of sugar! Yeah, no wonder it was good. I really try hard not to have too much sugar in anything and 35 grams was way over my limit so I tried a few variations that turned out pretty darn good.
Original Moscow Mule Recipe
- 1 shot vodka (1- 1/2 oz)
- 1 Ice Cold Cock ‘n Bull Ginger Beer
- Juice from a 1/2 squeezed lime
- Ice Cubes
Mix together all the ingredients and pour it over ice. Garnish with a mint leaf and lime wedge and this is optional. I should also mention this drink tastes amazing in the Moscow Mule Copper Mug! I’m not exactly sure why but I think the mug makes this drink really, really cold and it’s so refreshing that way. I don’t drink this drink without my favorite copper mug.
Skinny Moscow Mule Recipe
- 1 shot vodka (1- 1/2 oz)
- 1 Soda water or low calorie/no calorie ginger ale (about 4 to 6 oz)
- Freshly minced ginger – the amount will depend on how you like it.
- Juice from a 1/2 squeezed lime
- Ice Cubes
You can purchase the ginger root at your local grocery store. Just peel and grate the ginger in the smallest grate possible. I actually purchased a ginger paste and used that to save me the trouble. It mixes well and tastes great! I add the ginger to the lime juice and then pour in the soda water. Perfect option for those wanting a skinny version of this amazing drink recipe. Another idea if you don’t want to completely take away the ginger beer, is try a low calorie ginger ale.
If you don’t have fresh ginger or limes on hand you can always use essential oils too. I mix a daily combination of lemon essential oil to my water. I use a glass stir stick to mix it as I drink it. They make Ginger Essential Oil and Lime Essential oils as seen on here on Amazon.
Spicy Moscow Mule Recipe
- 1 shot vodka (1- 1/2 oz)
- ginger beer (about 4 to 6 oz)
- a few slices of jalapeño
- Juice from a 1/2 squeezed lime
- Ice Cubes
Mix together all the ingredients and pour it over ice. The bite of this drink will depend on how hot your jalapeño peppers are. I have a few plants in my garden and they are super spicy! I’m a big old wimp so I only put a couple in my drink.
Vanilla Moscow Mule Recipe
- 1 shot vanilla flavored vodka (1- 1/2 oz)
- ginger beer (about 4 to 6 oz)
- Juice from a 1/2 squeezed lime
- Ice Cubes
Mix together all the ingredients and pour it over ice. If you don’t have vanilla flavored vodka you can always add a few drops of vanilla extract! I stumbled upon this concoction when I accidentally made this drink with a vanilla flavored vodka I had on hand. It was a pleasant surprise! I love the taste of vanilla and I was surprised at how well the flavor combinations worked together. You can bet I am looking to try more recipes with my new favorite vanilla and lime combination.
