How To Remove Water Stains From Your Furniture
Those unsightly water stains that are left behind on your table, end table, coffee table or other wooden furniture when someone forgets to use a coaster don’t have to stay there. There are several ways to get rid of those stains and make your furniture look good as new. Check out these tricks.
How To Remove Water Stains From Your Furniture
Use a Little Car Wax
Use your finger to dab just a little bit of car wax on the water stain then let it sit. After it has dried, buff it out with a soft cloth.
Vinegar and Olive Oil
Mix up equal parts of vinegar and olive oil to create a cleaner to remove water rings from wood furniture. Use a soft cloth to apply the vinegar and oil mixture to the wood, making sure you wipe with the grain of the wood. Use another soft cloth to polish the area and make it shine.
Salt and Water
Mix a little bit of salt and a little bit of water (1 teaspoon of salt with just a few drops of water) to create a paste to clean that ring off. Use a soft cloth to work this mixture over the ring until the ring is gone. Wipe it all off with a damp cloth then use a little furniture polish to make it look as good as new!
Petroleum Jelly
Rub a little petroleum jelly onto the water stains then let it sit for the night. The next morning you can simply wipe everything away — including that water stain!
Baking Soda and Water
Make a paste of about a tablespoon of baking soda and a tablespoon of water. Use a circular motion to rub this mixture on the spot until it’s gone.
Hair Dryer
If the water spot is still wet, blot it with a towel to remove the liquid then use a hair dryer (on low) to dry the stain and make it disappear.
Non-Gel Toothpaste and Baking Soda
If you have some of those water stains on your furniture, you can use some toothpaste and baking soda to get rid of them. Put a bead of non-gel toothpaste on the ring, sprinkle a little baking soda on it, then use a soft cloth to work the mixture on the wood.
Be sure to go with the grain of the wood. Wipe this off with a damp cloth then treat with furniture polish or a little bit of lemon oil.
Try one or more of these methods to get those water rings off of your wood furniture. Keep these tricks in mind for future reference since it is certain that these pesky stains will happen again — whether you keep coasters available or not!
