Rice Crispy Treat Recipes
Rice Crispy Treat recipes are my absolute favorite. I can remember enjoying them as a young kid. Licking the spoon was the best part! We always had the Plain Jane Rice Crispy Treats though.Â
We never experimented it ever.Â
I decided to take one of America’s favorite recipes and do some experimenting. Let’s just say, the family is glad I did! Oh favorite you ask? It’s the Nutella Rice Crispy Treat! Hands down!!!
Plain Rice Crispy Treats Recipe
This recipe comes straight from my Rice Krispies box! These are the best.
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of Rice Crispy Cereal
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 bag (10.5 oz) miniature marshmallows
Instructions:
- Spray a non stick cooking spray on a rectangle baking pan and set aside.Â
- Measure out your rice crispy cereal and set aside. I prefer to melt the marshmallows using the stove top method over medium heat. I’ve seen many photo fails with the microwave method.Â
- Start by melting the butter.Â
- Once the butter is melted, add the marshmallows. Stir repeatedly so you don’t burn them.Â
- Once completely melted, I immediately add the Rice Crispy cereal and stir.Â
- After the melted marshmallow is completely mixed in I dump the hot ingredients into the baking pan. I grab a little bit of butter and rub it on my clean hands. By doing this I never worry about the treats sticking to my fingers.Â
- Next, start shaping the rice crispy treats in the pan by spreading it out and pressing down. I add more butter to my hands if needed.

Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats
It depends on how much peanut butter you like on your treats. If you are a serious peanut butter lover then I suggest making the rice crispy treats using the method above but let them completely cool. Once cooled I would spread peanut butter over the top. Serve and enjoy.
If you like just a hint of peanut butter then I have a trick for you. I like to make a variety of flavored treats with different sauces. I take about a tablespoon of peanut butter and heat it in the microwave for about 15 to 30 seconds. This will get it nice and runny.Â
Then I take a fork and drizzle the peanut butter over each rice crispy treat. Works out perfectly for those wanting just a hint of peanut butter on their rice crispy treat!
Nutella Rice Crispy Treats
Nutella Rice Crispy Treats are our favorite! We all voted and unanimously voted for Nutella! These were pretty easy to make too. We added about 2 tablespoons of Nutella to a microwave safe bowl and added just a tad of cooking oil to the mix.Â
Microwave it for about 15 to 30 seconds. Just enough to get it warm and gooey. It’s way to thick to skip this step. Stir the mixture and drizzle it over your rice crispy treat. The devour!
Chocolate Rice Crispy Treats
Chocolate Rice Crispy Treats can be made a few different ways. You can make the recipe above and add in chocolate chips into the mixture. I like to create a chocolate sauce that I can drizzle over the top of my rice crispy treat. It looks so gourmet!Â
If you want to make a chocolate sauce, simple take a handful of chocolate chips add just a tad of cooking oil and heat them for about 30 seconds. Just enough for them to melt. Careful not to burn them. Keep heating them for 10 seconds at a time until fully melted. Mix the heated sauce and drizzle over your rice crispy treat. Enjoy!
Tip: We like to drizzle the chocolate and peanut butter sauces on one rice crispy treat too! Peanut Butter and Chocolate are a PERFECT Combo!!!
Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats
Follow the plain recipe above but include 2/3 cup of boxed yellow or white dry cake mix. Add this mixture right after the marshmallows have completely melted. You can mix in sprinkles at this time too!Â
Save some sprinkles to add to the top of your Rice Crispy Treats too! The Cake Batter Rice Crispy Treats were next on our favorite list too. I think because they really do taste like a cake! Yummy!
