After School Snack Thoughts
School starts for us next week. Preparing for the new schedule has been quite the task. I’m happy to say we have completed our school supplies shopping and our school clothes shopping a week early! I feel so accomplished. This time last year was a disaster. I’ve learned this year the early shopping pays off because I found all of the supply items at one store. That is an all time record for me. There was only one disappointment though. I can’t believe I spent $75 on tennis shoes for my nine year old. $75! Who spends $75 on tennis shoes?! I mean really. My daughter has a high instep and fitting her for tennis shoes are difficult. I gave up on bargain shopping for them. I felt lucky to have found a pair that didn’t hurt. Gee whiz… I’m certain there are other Moms out there that can relate to this pain.
One thing I am happy about though is preparing for school lunches and after school snacks. I can thank Walmart for these shopping trips.
We all tend to love the same foods and we hardly ever argue about the choices. Well, sometimes we do. We can both agree that we love HOT POCKETS® brand sandwiches but we tend to argue about the flavors. I like to change it up a bit, but the young one always insists on Ham & Cheese All. The. Time. There are some battles I choose not to fight. I’m happy that she is choosing good food and not going for the cookies when she is starved after school. She wins. She gets ham & cheese anytime she wants. Happy child, happy Mom!
We usually pair her favorite HOT POCKETS® brand sandwiches with NESTLE® JUICY JUICE too. There’s no argument there because we both love it and it’s made with 100% real fruit juice.
I’m excited that school is starting and I am reflecting on the times ahead. I absolutely adore those 15 minutes of time that my daughter and I share right when she gets home from school (but before homework starts) as we eat our favorite snacks together (yes, I like them too).
We reflect on the day we have both had and we share stories both good and bad. This child cracks me up almost everyday!
Now that’s my good life. What about you? What’s your good life?
