Super Easy Cherry Cobbler Recipe

This super easy cherry cobbler recipe is a total no brainer type recipe.  This is not a homemade recipe or one you would find in a cookbook with lots of directions.  This is the type of recipe you want to make when you have very little time and you don’t want to put much effort into it but yet you still want it to taste amazing!  Yes, recipes like this really do exist!  I’ve been working all day prepping our garden from Spring planting so the last thing I want to do is spend lots of time in the kitchen because I barely have any energy left form using the tiller.  My oldest already made a quick dinner and we all had a horrible sweet tooth.  We wanted something super yummy to complete our hardworking day.  This easy cherry cobbler recipe is perfect for days like today.  All I need is a few ingredients and I literally throw these ingredients together to make a special treat for my family.  It really doesn’t get any easier than this unless you bought it from the store pre-made.

Tip:  Keep cans of fruit in your pantry to have amazing tasting fruit even when it’s not in season!  You will always see canned peaches, canned cherries, canned pineapple and canned blueberries in my pantry!  Cans seal in nutrition, freshness and flavor, naturally.

This recipe was inspired by this Almond Cherry Tres Leches Cake I found over here on the Allrecipes Cans Get You Cooking® Recipes page!  I love a good cherry recipe but I just didn’t have the energy today.  Be sure to check out that page for lots of amazing recipes too!

Directions to make this super easy cherry cobbler recipe:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Grease the bottom of your pan.  You can use a 9×13 inch pan or a large cast iron skillet as you see in the photo.

Pour the cherry pie filling in the pan first.  You can mix this recipe up a bit too.  You can use no sugar added cherry pie filling which comes out amazing!  Or you can use one can of cherry pie filling and one can of crushed pineapple too.  I’ve made this recipe both ways and they both taste great.  My favorite is when I use the cans of no sugar added cherry pie filling though because I don’t like it really sweet.  My family likes all of the recipes.  I swear they cannot tell the difference between the no sugar added and the regular pie filling.

Melt the 1/2 stick of real butter and pour it over the cake mix.   The liquid from the pie filling with absorb into the cake mix to make the crust.  No stirring needed.  I’ve tried it both ways.  I’ve mixed the butter with the cake mix to make a batter but you don’t need to at all.

Here’s another idea for a different recipe version.  Try using a chocolate cake mix for this recipe.  You will have a cobbler that tastes just like a black forest cake!  It’s so good!

Bake it at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes or until the crust has browned on the top!

Easy, right?!  You’ve gotta try this recipe.

I love the fact that I can keep cans of my favorite fruits and vegetables in my pantry and they taste amazing even though they may not be in season!  Thank goodness canning was invented!  Did you know that canned foods can be a hallmark of a healthy diet?!  Canned produce is on par nutritionally with fresh and frozen varieties, and in some cases even better.  In fact, 73% of moms agree that canned foods help them get a home-cooked meal on the table more often.

I love almost any cherry flavored recipe too.  Just look at this cherry pie I made a while back.  It’s also pretty simple.  I just used a pre-made dough and cans of cherry pie filling.  My daughter and I got a little bit creative and used a small leaf cookie cutter for the crust and center.  Everyone loved it but no one knows it’s not homemade.  Shhh!  Don’t say a word!  lol!
